                            WARNING <      > WARNING

Part 2 of our trip to the Mt. Fuji forest called Jyukai has two videos that are or could be quite disturbing. The first clip has verbal dialogue that could be disturbing, the second has visual footage that is disturbing!! That is why a warning has been given ... you have been warned!!

Before you watch these videos I suggest you take a look at the PART 1 Story of Jyukai Forest just so you can get an idea of what the journey to the forest is about. It can be found on the home page of this blog in the Top 10 of what is looked at most. Actually I recommend it!!

OUT & ABOUT in Japan .... they are at it AGAIN!!!

Come on!!! I know it gets VERY HOT here in Japan during summer ... but to strip down to the bare!?!?!?!? ... too much!!  These Japanese men are crazy!!!!

What I don't understand is ... why don't the police arrest these people for GROSS indecency?  You just couldn't get away with this in Australia, you would be put in jail and locked up as a loony!!
..... OUT & ABOUT will return soon :))

# OUT & ABOUT in Japan # ... Suicide Forest Pt.1

                      WARNING ><><>< WARNING

... THE PICTURES you are about to see ARE GRAPHIC!!
... A DECAPITATED BODY was found by my friends and I
... It was found in the Aokigahara Forest
... This forest is now commonly called JYUKAI

... It's a very popular place to commit suicide

Aokigahara Forest lies on the North West side of Mt.Fuji in Japan.  It's more recent name, Jyukai, meaning the Sea of Trees is commonly used these days.  This name came about from the many people that ascend/descend Mt.Fuji as on the North West side can be seen this area of trees stretching 35 square kilometers large and is green all year round.

Carlos is standing below to get an idea how far the drop is from the ledge where I'm standing

Jyukai hosts a number of tourist destinations such as an ice cave,  hiking trails and camp sites and near by lakes.  But Jyukai is actually more famous than all of the above for the following 2 reasons.  Jyukai is the second most popular suicide place in the world.  In 2011, 247 bodies were found.  Secondly, Jyukai is host to endless tales of ghosts,  spirits, displaced energy and the Japanese Yurei.  A Yurei is a spirit that lingers close to the body it has just left and has different characteristics to ghosts and spirits.

# OUT & ABOUT in Japan # ... must be heat stress

Japan is often considered a country that has strange and wonderful ideas, practices and inventions.  Summer in Japan is considerably HOT as the months of July, August and September roll through and there are all kinds of gadgets seen on the street to combat the soaring humidity and heat.

But it looks like some people just don't seem interested in having some kind of fan or contraption that will cool them down!!  A simple cave man technique of stripping down to the underwear will do!!  :))  This happened very recently on a train here in Tokyo!!

# Out & About in JAPAN # ... a scary forest!?!?!

Now why would three sane guys be making such strange faces?
The answer lies at the North West base of Mt.Fuji in Japan. Next weekend we are on a mission to provide details and create a small documentary about a mystical place that all Japanese people fear.

The area is called Jukai - the Sea of Trees. It's a fairly new name for the forest which is commonly known as Aokigahara Forest. The forest is 35 square kilometers of quietness, the trees are apparently so dense there that the wind hardly penetrates it's interior. The forest is also host to the world's 2nd most popular place to commit suicide. Stories are told of ghosts haunting, wild packs of dogs and pigs, compasses that go haywire and of people getting lost.

For the six of us, Craig from Australia, Carlos from Mexico, Tony from South Africa, brothers A.J. and Steve from Canada and Paul from England that will visit the area next week, each of us has a reason to find out some truths as to the aura, the mystery and sadness this place holds for the Japanese people.

Stay tuned for an update when we return from our adventure.

OUT & ABOUT in Japan ... a dirty contraption???

WARNING!!  SOME FOREIGNERS MAY FIND THIS UNSUITABLE!!

Cleaning as we know it is a daily chore and is really unavoidable ... well, that is if you like things to be clean :))

In Australia a toilet is something you either stand in front of or sit down on, your business is done and then you walk away.  The toilet, or dunny, as we call it in Australia is considered a simple contraption and is traditional in design.  A toilet in Australia is not something considered to be a cleaning tool.

A toilet is a toilet and that's it!!  ... or is it!?!??

Space, the final frontier!!

The words said at the beginning of the t.v. show Star Trek.

Yet, even in a side street in Shinjuku, Tokyo, the legacy of Captain Kirks words linger on!!  Or do they???? ...

# WONKY ENGLISH # ... WARNING!! the DEEPER meaning of bicycle riding

Through life we learn the rights and wrongs, the good and the bad and what to do and what not to do.

But when it comes to flying high in the sky by bike, we must follow the rules ... i guess  :))
And when it comes to riding a bike, especially a super bike like this one, we need to follow the basic rules ... OF THIS BIKE!!  This is certainly one WONKY bike  :)

# OUT & ABOUT in Australia ... a dodgy doctor???

Was looking back at some pics of when I was in Aus. last year and found this one.  This shot was taken in a bar down at the beach in Glenelg Adelaide.

This is quite extreme advertising for sure.  Well it's not exactly advertising, more like trying to get the message across that this shouldn't be done!!  And ain't that the truth!!

Kind of makes you feel wonky just looking at this picture  :))

# OUT & ABOUT in JAPAN # ... a VERY old looking fish!!

As I walked along the street at the Tsukiji Fish Markets one fine sunny morning recently, I stopped at a shop in front of me displaying an odd looking piece of wood!!  I got closer.  The wood seems to be some sort of carving.  Maybe the guy, who is standing beside the shop is a wood carver.  I get even closer.  But I was curious as to why a wood carver would have a shop in a fish market?!?!?

# WONKY ENGLISH # ... a cafe of people :)

Could this be the place where Rockefeller really met his end???  Legend has it that he was eaten by cannibals in the depths of Irianjaya.  Is this cafe connected to cannibalism???  It certainly looks a bit WONKY.

# WILD STORIES of ADVENTURE # ... Java, Indonesia

We are on another bus,  but this driver is not like the crazy driver we had when we were in Sumatra!!  There is no need to feel that our lives will end soon.

Our destination is Jakata,  the capital of Indonesia.  Sumatra is wonderful and tropical, a world of difference as we enter the outskirts of Jakata.  We are famished!!  Starving, as we enter the bus terminal, our transition on our way to somewhere,

# WONKY ENGLISH # ... Dr. Spock's cousin, or just SPORTY??

# COOL JAPAN # ... SHIBUYA

The topic is Shibuya.  The location is Shibuya ... all day!!  It's COOL JAPAN!!

Shibuya is certainly a place that has it all.  Locals shop here, out of townee's are eager to flock here, foreigners gather to take pictures here, the fashionistas flaunt here, the trendies, the young and the old ... to be in Shibuya!!

# OUT & ABOUT in Japan # ... respect your environment :)

So true!!  There are just too many selfish people in this world that need to grow up and start respecting the environment around them.  It's not just you out there, there are roughly 6 billion others that live here too.  And not forgetting the future too, all the other people that will inhabit our beautiful world after us!!

PLEASE TAKE THAT EXTRA BIT OF CARE ... it's just a little that helps

# WONKY ENGLISH # ... well close to it :))

Clothes dryers are a great product, there is no doubt about it.  They are in basically every household and they are extremely handy when clothes need to be dried in a rush or you want to make a piece of clothing warm before you go outside on a freezing day like it is here in Japan right now!!  Clothes driers are usually round that is true.  Quite honestly I for one have never seen any other shape.  It's quite the norm.

But does a clothes dryer need to have WONKY English on it??  I want one of these descriptions for my computer ... a simple rectangulurish computer, on my table!!

# Out and About in Japan # ... camping with mates

My great mate Darren from Australia was in Japan for a holiday and Alex was up in the hills around the Okutama area doing some hiking.  So the idea of us meeting up for a camping session seemed like a good idea.
